CBS – Al-Qaeda has chosen Ayman al-Zawahiri as the organization’s new leader a month and a half after the death of Osama bin Laden.
The group’s statement surfaced on a number of Islamist websites, saying Ayman Al-Zawahiri is now officially taking over from Osama bin Laden.
Terrorism experts said it’s no surprise that he is taking charge but only that it has taken this long to make it official – which, they say, may show signs of division within the group that few of us had heard of before 9/11.
