Early Sunday morning, in response to rockets fired from Gaza at the Israeli home front over the weekend, the Israeli Air Force targeted a tunnel used for terror operations in the northern Gaza Strip. A direct hit was confirmed by the IDF.
The territory, governed by Hamas, a terrorist organization, has been the origin of several attacks on Israel in recent years. The tunnels, such as the one targeted by Israel, are reportedly used to execute terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.
The IDF announced that it “will not allow the Israeli southern communities to continue living under constant threat, and will continue to respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the citizens of Israel.”
Israeli authorities consistently charge Hamas with sole responsibility for rocket attacks launched from Gaza. No injuries or casualties from the strike have yet been confirmed.
