Entrepreneur Yossi Vardi will share his expertise and unique approach to business at a gathering of American-Israeli Young Leadership Professionals, September 22 in New York. An open Q&A will follow the Vardi-style “lecture.” Hosted by Larry Silverstein, at 7 World Trade Center tower, the first “green” skyscraper in New York, the event provides Young Professionals in the real estate and high tech industries with an opportunity to listen to and question the man considered as Israel’s “de facto spokesperson” for the high tech industry.
Israel Bonds spokeswoman Galia Chanoch, says the Young Leadership contingents of The Development Corporation for Israel (“Israel Bonds”) and Dor Chadash, the evening’s co host, “form a footprint of the Israeli-American professional in NYC.” Members of the two groups have a unique and good synergy.
Vardi has partnered or invested in more than 60 Israeli startup companies. He is an “early angel,” providing the initial investments that help grow startup companies, and has lent his expertise to the government of Israel in several capacities, including as the first Director General of the Ministry of Energy. His Thursday talk is expected to provide insights into the how-and-why Israel became the “Start-up nation,” and why the country fosters such a high level of entrepreneurship.
The virtual Godfather of Israel’s IT industry, Vardi says it is “his ability to see the future before anyone else,” and to “write checks very fast” that are his chief talents. He is said to “bet on people rather than businesses.”
Yossi Vardi speaks at 7 World Trade Center, September 22 at 6 PM. Tickets for the event are available through Israel Bonds by calling (212) 644- 2663 or can be purchased at the door.
