WSJ – Two explosions rocked the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday morning, attacks that the government and an activist group said targeted the heart of the state security administration a day after an Arab League advance mission arrived in the country under a plan to resolve Syria’s spiralling crisis.
State television said suicide bombers blew them themselves up in two cars targeting the central intelligence administration and a second state security branch, killing a number of military officers and civilians. “Initial investigations point to Al Qaeda,” headlines on Syrian television said. It broadcast scenes of the blast, showing bloodied debris strewn among piles of rubble and men dragging a charred torso into an ambulance.
