Britain’s Labor Party acted swiftly in responding to anti-Israel death threats made by a man named Sherreef Abdallah on Twitter, by suspending him.
Responding to a tweet made by a woman via the social networking platform, Abdallah wrote “I will hunt you down & fight you min by min. hr by hr. day by day. wk by wk. month by month. year by year for the rest of yr life.”
Abdallah continued: “Your nightmare is just starting… it will only get worse for you every day 24/7 till you leave twitter”, “Zionists can’t save you… the only way to stop it is to leave twitter. Racist tory anti Islamic scum”.
Twitter however, says the comments made do not merit shutting down Abdallah’s account.
Twitter refused to comment on the matter when contacted by The Algemeiner but The Jewish Chronicle reports a Twitter spokesperson as saying, “we have investigated the reported account and have found that it’s not in violation of the Twitter Rules at this time. We have a policy against violent threats, but the content of this account lacks the specificity to meet the criteria of an actionable threat”.
Earlier this month, Ronn Torossian explored the merit of allowing anyone to say whatever they would like via social networks, under the protection of free speech laws.
In the direction of the same woman, Abdallah added (in capital letters), “I WILL BEAT YOU TO DEATH… R.I.P; THIS IS NOT A THREAT… THAT IS A PROMISE.”
