In the intense discussion at Saturday night’s dinner the Obama case was cause celebre. The humor was interesting…
In a speech to students President Obama said he was always getting in trouble when he was in middle school. In fact he talked so much the teacher had to take away his teleprompter.
Here’s the good news. Life expectancy in the US has risen to a record 78.2 years. The bad news? The average age a person must now work until retirement is 78.3 years.
Al Qaeda, under pressure for their sexist policies, is publishing a magazine for women. Isn’t that the craziest idea? They already have one for men. It’s called ‘Car Bomb and Driver.’
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed concern that 10,000 to 15,000 people each day cross the border from Libya into Egypt. In California that’s called ‘a trickle.’
The rumor is that Michelle Obama wears combat boots when she goes from her office in the West Wing to the Executive Wing. Yes, she objected to the details of her hairdresser accompanying the President and First Lady on Air Force One when they travel, reported in the Kantor book. It was the report of the hot skewers that she thrusts into the guts of East Wing personnel that drew a cool response.
The affable William Daley did not want to replace Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff. He resisted the appointment when it was offered a year ago as he tangled with Michelle Obama during his Chicago political career. A former Mayor of Chicago and Secretary of Commerce under Bill Clinton, Daley is skilled in the art of hand-to hand Washington combat while Michelle is a south side Chicago warrior. When Daley walked into his office to see the First Lady with her boots on his desk, he knew who was directing traffic and giving the marching orders. Dailey has called it a strategic withdrawal.
