Marton Gyongyosi, the foreign affairs spokesman of Jobbik, an extremist, right-wing political party in Hungary, denied the holocaust in a press interview, reported the Jerusalem Post.

The spokesman for Jobbik questioned if more than 400,000 Hungarian Jews were really murdered or deported during the Holocaust, and said that it has become a political business to elevate the numbers. He also told a British newspaper that Israeli treatment of the Palestinians is a “Nazi system” and compared Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to Joseph Goebbels. “The Jews don’t have the right to talk about what happened in the Second World War,” he said.

New York-based political commentator Ben Cohen responded to Gyongyosi’s comments, saying his “remarks neatly demonstrate the overlap of extreme-right and far-left anti-Semitism: paranoia about Jewish economic and political influence, downright lies about Jewish history and pathological loathing of Israel and Zionism.” The Jobbik party has also been working to establish a relationship with Iran, even hosting an Iranian delegation and the Iranian ambassador to Hungary.
