Two new polls shed light on American support for a military strike if it became clear Iran was on the verge of finalizing their development of a nuclear weapon.
According to The Hill, which is Congress’s daily internal news publication, 49% of Americans surveyed believe the White House “should be willing to use military force to to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon”.
31% do not support the military option and 20% are “unsure”.
During his January State of the Union address, President Obama said, “Let there be no doubt, America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal. But a peaceful resolution of this issue is still possible, and far better, and if Iran changes course and meets its obligations, it can rejoin the community of nations.”
In a poll released by Rasmussen, 48% of those surveyed responded that they would want the U.S. to provide assistance to Israel if the Jewish state launched a military strike on Iran’s facilities.
