A staffer for Fox Latin America recently posted a poll on the network’s Facebook page inquiring with the audience about who they think was responsible for the death of Jesus Christ. The poll was conducted to promote a Christmas program for National Geographic.
The poll’s response options were: Pontius Pilate, the Jewish people and The High Priests.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Buenos Aires condemned the poll, informing the Associated Press about the defamatory status of the census. The question had been resolved by the Vatican back in 1965 when Pope Benedict XVI clarified how there was no basis in the scripture for the argument of whether the Jewish people were responsible for Jesus’ death.
Fox spokeswoman, Guadalupe Lucero publicly apologized in the name of National Geographic and announced the polls immediate removal; additionally she declared that measures would be taken to prevent these types of incidents in the future.
