In October of last year a devestating earthquake in Van, Turkey left thousands homeless and hundreds dead.  Another earthquake in the area less than a month later only made things wose.

Now, with assistance from countries across the globe, including from Israel, the Turkish city of Van is rebuilding

“After the severe earthquake that struck here, you the Israeli arrived with a lot of equipment and willingness to help, and for that I am deeply thankful from the bottom of my heart,  You are true allies and this here is evidence of that. Only true allies assist so quickly and considerately,” vice governor of the Van province, Mr. Ahmet Kazankiya told a delegation from the Israeli Defense Ministry during their visit to help assist in the rebuilding process.

The Ministry donated infrastructure to the effected areas, enough to provide homes for 800 people.

“Upon receiving knowledge of the disaster, the Defense Ministry, known for its capability to efficiently aid anywhere in the world, transferred 50 mobile buildings and 80 residential buildings. We are pleased to see that civilians will start using these buildings already in the next few days,” said the Defense Ministry in a statement.

A local university professor was pleased with the effect this will have on local education.

“Thanks to these buildings we will be able to return to routine life and provide housing for students,” he said.
