$26.7 million. That’s the dollar amount Israeli wine collected in overseas sales during 2011, according to the Israel Export Institute.
“In the past, Israeli wine exports were based largely on kosher wines, but today, our wines garner international attention and recognition,” said Michal Meeman of IEI.
The top markets for Israeli wine include the United States, France, the UK, Canada, and Poland.
Sales to Poland were up over 60% from 2010, while the United States drank the vast majority of Israel’s wine, at a total of $12.2 million.
Asia is a fast growing market as well, with year over year sales having grown 66%, reaching $1.1 million.
EU consumption grew at a modest 3%, totaling $8 million.
