On Sunday evening, President Obama announced in Washington that Israeli President Shimon Peres will be awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom later this year.
Peres, who is already a Nobel Peace Prize recipient, went to California on Tuesday to meet with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Just after 9 A.M. ET Peres and Zuckerberg launched a new social media page dedicated to providing youth from around the world with a platform for injecting their ideas on how to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Peres said the new platform can help change the discourse of debate over Middle Eastern politics, in a new and transparent manner, by providing ordinary citizens with a way to discuss their ideas.
The page can “convince people they don’t have reason to hate. Hate is an unnecessary addition to our lives,” he said.
