Director Steven Spielberg and the Queen attended a private screening of the movie, War Horse, yesterday at Windsor Castle. The wood-paneled state room, Waterloo Chamber, was transformed into a cinema and seated about 100 people, mainly household staff.
The Queen had apparently been too busy to attend the premiere held several months ago in London and the subsequent champagne reception at the Queen’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reportedly praised the film.
The movie was a box office hit, “raking in £110million and was nominated for six Oscars and five Baftas.” It focused on the atrocious conditions horses faced during World War One, where approximately four to eight million horses died.
