The last stages for Newt Gingrich’s campaign just took another step, after Sheldon Adelson told a group of people in Las Vegas that Gingrich is “at the end of the line”.
Adelson, the billionaire owner of The Venetian, along with his wife have given $15 million to Gingrich’s superPAC Winning our Future in the past few months, allowing Gingrich to continue his bid for President as Mitt Romney built his lead in delegates and fundraising.
Adelson, who was speaking at a conference that was being hosted at his hotel, said he’s fond of Rick Santorum as a person but he has no interest in seeing him as the next President.
“You’ve got to have the courage of your own convictions…this man has no history whatsoever of created anything or taking risks. I know Rick [Santorum]. I like him. We’re friendly. But I got to tell you something, I don’t want him running my country,” he said.
Adelson also said he had met recently with Mitt Romney in Las Vegas and it’s the former Massachusetts governor’s decision making prowess that worries him.
“He’s not the bold decision maker like Gignrich is. He says, ‘well, let me think about it,” Adelson said.
“He’s like Obama.”
