Louis Farrakhan, who leads the Nation of Islam, has accepted an invitation from students at Alabama A&M University – historically a black school – and will be speaking on campus in April.

The acceptance of the invitation comes a few weeks after the New York City native claimed, as he has done before, that Jews control the media.

“I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m just telling the truth,” Farrakhan said.

“In 100 years, they control movies, television, recording, publishing, commerce, radio, they own it all. Jewish people were not the origin of Hollywood,” he added, “but they took it over.”

Now, parts of Alabama’s Jewish community are opposing Farrakhan’s visit to Huntsville.

“All I can say is shame on A&M for allowing him [Farrakhan] to come,” said a local resident, Max Blumenthal. “We are related to Satan according to Mr. Farrakhan…Mr. Farrakhan is a rabid hate-monger, a rabid anti-Semite, and I think all he’s going to do is try to poison the minds of the A&M students. It’s a real disaster to the community, and I believe it’s going to be very divisive.”

According to a report from WHNT in Alabama, the Jewish Federation of Huntsville-North Alabama plans to meet with university officials to lobby in opposition of Farrakhan’s visit.
