The Republican Jewish Coalition has come out against what they believe is a concerted campaign by the Obama administration to “hinder Israel’s ability to defend herself against Iran’s development of nuclear weapons.”

In an e-mail to reporters the coalition’s Executive Director, Matt Brooks, says the President’s claim to “have Israel’s back” does not match up with information that U.S. government officials gave to Mark Perry at Foreign Policy Magazine.

“The administration’s willingness to reveal sensitive U.S. intelligence about Iran and to sabotage Israel’s relationship with another country, all in an attempt to limit Israel’s options with regard to Iran, is deeply, deeply troubling. If President Obama really had Israel’s back, why is his administration leaking like this? These are not the actions of a friend of Israel, nor of a responsible and thoughtful U.S. administration,” says Brooks.

On Thursday, Mark Perry cited anonymous “high level” U.S. government sources who claimed Israel and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement for the Jewish state to use at least one airbase in Azerbaijan, during an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
