Members of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity located near Boston University are under investigation by city and campus police after 5 male students were found tied up, gagged, and covered in food products in the fraternity’s home.

The 5 students, all of whom attend Boston University, were found in the home’s basement by police after responding to a disturbance call at the residence over loud music.

Police have questioned a number of people believed to be involved in the incident but no one has been charged.

“We’re investigating the allegations, cooperating with the authorities in this investigation, and working to make sure that everbody understands how serious this is,” Jon Pierce, a former president of the fraternity at the national level, told The Algemeiner.  Pierce was authorized to speak on behalf of the national board.

“All of the members of the fraternity have been suspended,” he added.

This comes a month after the AEPi Boston University chapter’s involvement in another incident with police, when two girls affiliated with a university sorority were taken to the hospital.

“This is a serious, serious incident.  What’s troubling is we have a group of students affiliated with AEPi who were involved in this and the other incident,” said Kenneth Elmore, Dean of Students at Boston University. “The consistent fact has been that members of this organization have been involved in both incidents.”

According to the police report, the 5 students were tied in a circle with duct tape, wearing nothing but their underwear.  Police have said they suspect  a “possible hazing” situation.

The Jewish fraternity AEPi, which was started almost 100 years ago, is not sanctioned by Boston University.

“They chose not to act in accordance with our regulations and our values as a Jewish fraternity,” Pierce said.
