Russian Billionaire Mikhail Fridman and other Russian businessmen embarked on a 3 day journey through the deserts of modern Israel last week, in order to replicate the Israelites journey during the story of Passover.
The Algemeiner reported earlier this week that Fridman’s Afra Bank is suspected of being involved in the financing of Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant. Fridman has also invested in real estate projects along the United States’ east coast with Jack Rosen, Chairman of the American Jewish Congress.
“This way the pilgrims will walk through the desert in conditions as close as possible to those of biblical times,” a spokesman for the group of travelers told the Interfax news agency.
The journey began from the Arava desert and finished in Jerusalem last Friday just before Passover began.
The group, which included Fridman, Otkritie co-owner Boris Mintz, business magnate Boris Belotserkovsky, and members of the Russian Jewish Congress arrived in Jerusalem for a Friday night seder, in time to help bake the holiday’s traditional unleavened bread.
It was “a serious spiritual and physical challenge to the participants” according to the Mikhail Sazin, the group’s spokesperson.
