Israeli airline company Arkia will no longer fly to Stockholm unless Swedish authorities renege on their sudden refusal to allow Israeli methods of security inspections as dictated by the Shin Bet security agency. Denmark similarly refused to allow such security inspections last summer.
“It seems from the international media that additional European countries waving the flag of civil rights and equality will refuse the Israeli security demands, which I’ve warned would happen,” said Arkia CEO Gadi Tepper.
Israel’s Transport Ministry added that it is working with the Foreign Ministry, the Israeli embassy in Stockholm, and Israeli security authorities to try to resolve the dispute before customers who bought tickets to Stockholm for the summer lose their money and vacations.
