NY Times Ad Takes on Anti-Israel BDS Campaign

In an attempt to draw more attention to the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions campaign aimed at Israel, an advertisement was placed in the New York Times on Wednesday, accusing those who support the movement of contributing to the hate of Jews around the world.
The ad refers to Mohammed Merah, the man who killed 4 people at a Jewish school in Toulouse, France last month, claiming that “ancient blood libels”, supported by the BDS movement, contributed to the murders.
“…it is time for supporters of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) to ask themselves what they did to contribute to the atmosphere of hate that spawned these and other murders of Jews,” the ad says.
Invoking the murder of 6,000,000 Jews at the very beginning of the ad, the text states “The Holocaust began with boycotts of Jewish stores and ended with death camps. The calls for a new Holocaust can be heard throughout the Middle East and Europe as well.”
The advertisement ends by identifying BDS supporters, including leading American academics, which David Horowitz – who placed the ad in the paper – says “use literature in classes to attack Israel”.
