John Lehman, the former Secretary of the Navy during the Reagan administration, has come out strongly against President Obama’s foreign policy initiatives, along with Pierre Prosper, who served in George W. Bush’s administration, and Dan Senor, author of “Start-up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle”.
“And now the administration, after giving major concessions in the START Treaty, is proposing reductions down to 300 nuclear weapons, which would be absolutely crazy because of the fact that the current disturbers of the peace in the world are thought by the IISS to have over 300 new cells. So for us to, in effect, withdraw the security guarantee of our nuclear umbrella to our allies by even proposing those kinds of numbers is a gross abdication of leadership,” Lehman said in a conference call with Prosper and Senor, set up to counter Vice President Biden’s remarks on the White House’s foreign policy strategies on Thursday.
All three men involved in the call are advisers to Mitt Romney on foreign policy issues.
Senor says the current administration’s record on improving relations with countries around the world is a “fantasy narrative”, while Prosper criticized the President’s handling of European missile defense and the issue of North Korea’s missile program.
