A Union of Jewish Students stall at the National Union of Students (UJS) annual conference in Sheffield, England was defaced with stickers and graffiti calling for a boycott of Israel. The anti-Israel symbols also covered the group’s Star of David logo.
Members of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) allegedly committed the vandalism. “The deliberate defacing of the Star of David, a sacred symbol of Judaism and of the State of Israel, was an indication of the increasingly blurred line between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism,” said Britain’s Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, according to the Jerusalem Post.
PSC also released a statement saying that the use of its stickers was unacceptable, and they were swiftly removed. “PSC condemns the defacing of the UJS stall,” the statement said. “The PSC opposes all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.”
