Warren Weinstein was abducted by al-Qaeda in Pakistan last year when gunmen broke into his home in Lahore, and now the terrorist organization has released a video with Weinstein saying he will be killed if President Obama does not heed to the terrorist group’s demands.
“It’s important you accept the demands and act quickly and don’t delay,” says the 70 year old from Rockville, Maryland.. “There’ll be no benefit in delaying, it will just make things more difficult for me.”
Weinstein was in Pakistan as the country director for J.E. Austin Associates, which advises Pakistani businesses and certain sectors within the government of Pakistan.
According to the group SITE, which tracks terrorist messaging around the world, the video was posted on Sunday by Al Qaeda’s media conduit Al-Sahab. Al Qaeda wants all U.S. airstrikes in Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia to stop in order for Weinstein to live, according to the video.
“My life is in your hands, Mr. President,” Weinstein said in the video, addressing President Obama. “If you accept the demands, I live; if you don’t accept the demands, then I die.”
