The Center for Anxiety in New York City recently hosted more than 80 professionals to discuss the connection between Judaism and mental health. More than 15 different empirical studies were presented, including the expectations of Orthodox men and women in the dating process, attitudes towards treatment in the Jewish community and the effects of religion on depression.
The conference also discussed issues that arise in the treatment of Jewish patients and the differentiation between stringent observance of the Jewish religion versus symptoms of OCD.”The conference was excellent—the quality of speakers, the professionalism and the discussions were incredible…I am grateful for your dedication to the cause of and vision for Judaism and mental health,” said Hillary Lewin Tuvia, a doctoral candidate at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology.
