Members of Greece’s Jewish community have expressed their concern with the Golden Dawn party’s inclusion into the country’s parliament following this past weekend’s elections.
Golden Dawn, which is an extremist right wing party that boasts a swastika as part of its logo, won 7% of the vote during parliamentary elections, something the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece is not happy about.
“We all have a duty to preserve our dignity, and preserve the principles of liberty, democracy and humanity,” they said in a statement.
The group also said they have confidence in Greece’s moral fabric, and that the country “will continue to strive to combat racism, intolerance and antisemitism”.
7,500 Jews are believed to be living in Greece.
