Madonna is heading to France next month as she continues her world tour, “MDNA”, but she’s already making headlines there after depicting Marine Le Pen – head of France’s National Front Party – as a Nazi.
Last week in Tel Aviv, during the opening of her tour, a picture of Le Pen was displayed during Madonna’s performance, with a swastika placed on Le Pen’s forehead. Her party, the National Front, has historically been considered anti-Semitic, but some point to Le Pen’s desire to distance herself from that record.
Upon learning of Madonna’s portrayal of her during the MDNA tour’s kickoff show, Le Pen made reference to Madonna’s age and leveled a warning against the queen of pop, against duplicating this action in France.
“We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes,” Le Pen said.“If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting.”
“If Madonna repeats this slur in France then she will certainly be taken to court,” said a member of the National Front.
