After residents in Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, and Cyprus all reported seeing an unidentified flying object in the skies on Wednesday, Russian authorities have confirmed that a missile test which originated in Central Russia was the cause of regional hysteria.
A video, which can be viewed below, shows the origin of the test, which observers believe was a failed attempt at launching an intercontinental ballistic missile. The video was suppressed while the Defense Ministry in Moscow claimed the test was successful.
“It most likely spun out of control and its remnants and the fuel was what people saw. It reached a height of 200-300 kilometers and that’s why it was seen from so many locations,” Dr. Yigal Pat-El, Chairman of the Israeli Astronomical Association told Ynet News.
