Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu experienced a few uncomfortable moments on Monday after tearing a tendon in his left foot while playing soccer with Arab and Jewish youths in Jerusalem.
The Israeli leader returned to work on Tuesday, albeit in a cast that he will need to wear for several weeks.
Netanyahu played in the game as part of an international project promoting Israeli tourism, while his office notes that he “slipped on the grass, got up, continued to play and scored a goal.”
After feeling the pain in his left foot shortly thereafter, his security team took him for medical tests at Jerusalem’s Hadassah University Hospital at Mount Scopus.
The soccer game was being filmed for the American travel show, “The Royal Tour,” where heads of state provide tours of their respective countries.
