Mosab Hassan Yousef is currently in Israel to produce two films with Israeli producer and actor Sam Feuer. The first is a feature film adaptation of Yousef’s autobiography, Son of Hamas, and the other is a historical depiction of the life of the Prophet Muhammed based on the accounts of eighth-century historian Ibn Ishaq, but with a new twist.

Yousef was born in Ramallah and is the eldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, one of the founders of Hamas. But Yousef believes strongly in Israel’s right to exist, and recently was quoted as saying “the Israeli historic right to this land is obvious and clear to any person who can read.”

Yousef said he has the authority to criticize Islam because he comes from an Islamic background. He alleged that “the truth” about Muhammed, the founder of Islam, is that he “glorified and encouraged murder as a form of worship, married a nine year-old bride and valued violence.” Yousef has previously described Islam as “a religion of war” and called on his father to leave Hamas.

Yousef collaborated with the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and saved hundreds of Israelis by working to prevent dozens of terrorist attacks. For a decade, the Shin Bet identified him by the code name “Green Prince.” Yousef, who has since been disowned by his family, is now living in the United States and has converted to Christianity.
