In a release issued to reporters this morning, the Israel Air Force says it has, “targeted a Global Jihad-affiliated terrorist squad in the southern Gaza Strip.”
One of the terrorists, says the release, “Ahmed Sai’d Isma’il, resident of Tufach, was among those responsible for the execution of the terror attack adjacent to the Israel-Egypt border, in which an Israeli civilian was killed, on June 18, 2012.”
According to the Jerusalem Post citing Palestinian hospital officials, one person died in the IAF strike, and one other was injured.
The IDF also says that the attack was preemptive, as Sai’d and other members of the terror group were planning another attack from Sinai against Israeli citizens. “Achmed Sai’d as well as E’id Nadi Ucaal, resident of Rafah, in addition to several other Global Jihad members were operating in order to execute a terror attack against Israeli civilians via the Israel-Egypt border,” says the release.
As The Algemeiner reported, the terror attack in June killed Israeli-Arab Defense Ministry contractor Saed Fashafshe, 36, and injured another Israeli when Palestinian terrorists infiltrated the Kadesh Barnea area from Sinai and opened fire on the Israelis’ vehicles. Fashafshe, of Haifa, was a father of four.
