Following a friendly match in Budapest on Wednesday, the head coach of Israel’s national soccer team revealed that his club was warned about being attacked and in defense against such a situation, staged a fake exit out of the stadium following their draw against Hungary to deter against possible violence.
“Our bus was sent out of the stadium after the match with a police escort and sirens sounding so that people would think it was us. We were asked to stay behind and we left later in a bus with the blinds drawn,” coach Eli Guttman said.

Upon arriving back in Israel at Ben-Guiron Airport in Tel Aviv, Guttman informed reporters that his team was told about possible security threats during their time in the Hungarian capital.
“I don’t know how much was known about this in Israel, the players were aware, but there were very severe warnings of a possible attack,” he said.
The friendly was played at Ferenc Puskas Stadium and ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Algemeiner reported earlier this week that two of Israel’s top soccer players, Ben Sahar and Yossi Benayoun, visited a Hungarian synagoguge during their stay in the Central European nation.
