A television show set to launch in England will feature 8 Jewish mothers competing for the title of “Jewish Mum of the Year”.
Each of the contestants will perform tasks designed by the show’s producers, ranging from planning a Bar Mitzvah for 200 guests, to the ultimate task for most Jewish mothers, setting up a Jewish man with a Jewish woman.
The mothers will come from all walks of life, including secular, religious, stay at home, and working professional, and range in age from 40-65.
The first task is the Bar Mitzvah where 4 pairs of mothers will be responsible for setting up different aspects of the Bar Mitzvah celebration. After two mothers are sent home, 6 remain, and their next task is matchmaking.
“They have two days to find a suitable Jewish boy, groom him, coach him and prepare him to ensure a successful first dinner date,” the program’s information page reads on Channel 4 in England. “Each boy will get just one course to woo his date and her first impressions will definitely count.”
The remaining 4 mothers will then pair up to plan a bus trip for 72 Jewish seniors, before the final 2 contestants must cook and prepare a Shabbat dinner for family, friends, and surprise guests.
“Jewish Mum of the Year” is scheduled to begin on October 9th.
