20 Rockets from Gaza Slam Southern Israel

20 rockets were fired into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip Sunday night and Monday.
No damage was reported as the rockets landed in open areas.
Hamas’ military wing, al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility. In a statement they said that the rocket fire was “in response to the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza.”
Saturday and Sunday several rockets landed near the city of Beersheba, prompting schools to close. In response the IDF carried out several strikes on terrorist targets in the Gaza strip. According to the IDF the targets included a rocket launching site and a terror activity site in the northern Gaza Strip as well as a terror activity site in the southern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF all hits were successful.
According to Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot sources in the Gaza Strip reported that some of the bombed targets were in open areas and included two posts belonging to Hamas’ military wing. No injuries were reported.
The IDF says that over 615 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip have hit communities in southern Israel this year, more than 150 of which were fired in October alone.
