Gaza rocket attacks against Israel escalated again over the weekend with over 30 fired over the past few hours. Earlier in the day, Arab terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at a jeep carrying Israeli soldiers severely injuring two and lightly injuring two others. According to Israel’s Channel 2 news one of the soldiers sustained severe head and eye injuries.
“In the past several hours, Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip have dramatically escalated their attacks against Israel — firing an anti-tank missile at an IDF jeep as well as launching a barrage of rockets,” said the IDF spokesperson blog.
Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak promised a response from Israel, saying, “We will not let such border incidents go unanswered.”
“Likud Knesset member Danny Danon urged the government to cut off electricity supplies to Gaza. Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein called for the IDF to ‘deliver a decisive blow’ against Gaza’s terror cells,” reported the Times of Israel.
According to an IDF email, one rocket was intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system. The IDF also targeted a rocket launching crew in Gaza “moments after it fired rockets towards southern Israel,” and other terror sites. Gaza residents claim that four were killed and over 20 were injured.
“The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip,” the Israel Defense Force routinely asserts.
Over the past two weeks, there have been four separate attacks from Gaza against Israelis.
