Two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip towards Jerusalem on Tuesday landed in the West Bank. It was the second time since Operation Pillar of Defense began that sirens sounded in the city.
According to sources one of the rockets landed near Bethlehem, home to large Christian and Muslim communities. According to the Ma’an News Agency Palestinians in the West Bank village of Surif, south of Jerusalem, said a rocket fell nearby, damaging a water network.
The incident came only hours after the Israeli government said it would give diplomacy another day before making a decision on a ground invasion into Gaza; UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon had also recently arrived in Jerusalem when the rockets were fired.
Over 60 rockets have hit Southern Israel Tuesday according to the IDF.
