The reservist who was injured Wednesday by rocket fire in the Eshkol Regional Council area has died.
28-year-old Lieutenant Boris Yarmolnik died Thursday from his wounds at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.
His death brings the total number of Israeli deaths during the eight days of Operation Pillar of Defense to six. He is also the second soldier to be killed by rocket fire in the Eshkol region after 18-year-old Yosef Fartuk died Tuesday.
According to The Times of Israel Dr. John Peiser, deputy director of the Soroka Hospital, told Channel 2 News a piece of shrapnel penetrated the officer’s brain, effectively leaving him no chance of survival.
Three other soldiers and two civilians were also injured in the attack.
