Polls Close in Likud Primaries, Erdan, Sa’ar Take Top Spots

JPost – Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Environmental Protection Minister Gilad Erdan appeared to be the biggest winners on Monday night as they were slated to take the top two spots on the Likud list after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The final results of the party’s primary were set to be announced around midnight on Monday.
Polls closed Monday at 10p.m. after a second day of voting in the primary election was necessary due to technical difficulties on Sunday. Some 59 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots, with Likud ministers Bennie Begin, Michael Eitan and Dan Meridor apparently not obtaining reasonable spots on the list.
