Missing Jewish Millionaire Guma Aguiar May Be Living in Netherlands

A Jewish millionaire that went missing at sea in June may be alive, says his wife’s attorney.
The attorney for Guma Aguiar’s wife, Jamie, told CBS 4 News in Miami that they are investigating reports that Aguiar’s sister, Angelika, moved to the Netherlands.
Attorney William Scherer said they also have information that a business partner of Guma Aguiar is now living in the Netherlands.
“It could be a coincidence but Jamie hopes there’s information about her husband and that he may still be alive so we’ll see,” attorney William Scherer said.
Guma Aguiar, a Brazilian-born businessman who primarily spent his time between Miami and Israel, disappeared after a boat ride off the coast of Florida, but investigators never found his body. His boat was found with the engine still running.
In July Aguiar’s uncle and mother both said they believed that Aguiar was still alive.
From the start questions surrounded his disappearance, and experts believed the possibility that he simply transferred boats and fled was conceivable.
Shortly before his disappearance his wife had asked for a divorce, according to several reports. Since, his wife and mother have been entangled in a bitter dispute over his estate.
A power of attorney document provided by Ellen Aguiar in a Florida filing notes that in July of 2011, Guma made his intentions clear in regards to who would control his assets in the event of a tragedy.
“Specifically, I revoke all powers of attorney that I have given to my wife, Jamie Aguiar aka Jamie Black Aguiar, to act in any way on by behalf. I further OBJECT [emphasis his] to the appointment of my wife Jamie Black Aguiar, aka Jamie Aguiar, to serve in any capacity as guardian of my person and/or property, or to have authority to act on my behalf,” the document reads. “At the present time my wife and I are in conflict and her interests are adverse to my interests.”
Aguiar made his fortune after the sale of an oil-field in Texas. He made a name for himself in the Jewish community through his philanthropic activities as well as for the fact that in 2009 he invested $4 million in Israeli soccer club Beitar Jerusalem FC. He is the father of four children and reportedly has a net worth of $100 million.
