Politico – Chuck Schumer, the top-ranking Jewish senator, indicated some reluctance Sunday to supporting former Sen. Chuck Hagel, should President Obama choose to nominate him for defense secretary.
Hagel, who represented Nebraska as a Republican until 2009, has faced intensifying criticism from Jewish and pro-Israel groups in the past week, as his name floated to the top of the president’s rumored list to lead the Pentagon.
