After recent snowfall in Israel, many people were sledding and building snowmen. But on the Temple Mount, outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque, locals built a snow M-75 rocket, resembling one of the rockets that Hamas fired at Jerusalem in November.
The AlqassamBrigade twitter account gleefully tweeted a photo of the snow rocket, with the accompanying message “Its time for M75 to talk, I am planted here, there and everywhere, in spite of occupation I am in #OccupiedJerusalem.” The tweet has been re-tweeted 28 times, mostly by other Arab run twitter accounts.
The Temple Mount, the most holy place in Judaism, is frequently used by Palestinian Arabs to play soccer. In recent years, the Muslim Waqf, the administrator of the Temple Mount, has been called out by the Israeli State Comptroller for destroying Jewish archaeological artifacts while constructing in and around the Temple mount.
Likud politician Moshe Feiglin was recently arrested for bowing on the Temple Mount, as Jews are “forbidden to pray in the area or show other outward signs of worship due to fears that Jewish prayer would inflame Muslim anger.”
