“Spider-Man” Needs Rescuing in Brooklyn Neighborhood

“Spider-Man” is no mensch, at least not to members of the Orthodox Jewish community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
According to the New York Post, producers of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” are planning to block streets and expropriate parking spaces over the Passover holiday so that they can film.
Columbia Pictures wants to close the streets surrounding an armory in the neighborhood from March 22 to 27, just when neighbors say they need the coveted extra street space for holiday guests. Passover begins at sundown March 25.
“They are truly disrupting our tranquility and peace during the holidays; it’s very insensitive to our needs,” said Esther Goldman, 45, who lives across the street from the armory.
Religious leaders say they want the plan changed out of respect for the holiday.
Movie reps pitched the plan to Williamsburg’s Community Board 1 this week.
