Ahead of Obama Visit, Palestinian Authority to Honor Hamas Mother of “Matyrs”

The recently deceased mother of three “martyrs” is being honored in Ramallah by PA President Mahmoud Abbas this week ahead of U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit to the region.
Maryam Farhat, also known as Umm Nidal, was a Hamas lawmaker who encouraged the killing of Israeli civilians. She also had three sons who were killed while involved in terrorist activities, one of whom she enthusiastically celebrated before he murdered several Jewish pre-army students.
Anonymous blogger Elder of Ziyon spotted several articles in Arab media reporting on the celebration of the woman. Among them is a “tent of condolences” for Farhat at Mahmoud Abbas’s headquarters in the Muqata in Ramallah and the granting of a high Palestinian Authority posthumous honor, the “Order of Sacrifice.”
