On the 11th anniversary of 17-year-old Ayyat Al-Akhras’s suicide bombing that killed 3 and wounded 28 Israelis near a Jerusalem supermarket on March 29, 2002, Fatah, the West Bank’s ruling faction, chose to celebrate her on its Facebook page, referring to her as the “Bride of Palestine.”
According to Palestinian Media Watch part of the accompanying praise read: “Ayyat, we are committed to your promise. We are committed to the promise of freedom, oh Bride of Palestine, Ayyat Al-Akhras.”
Fatah also glorified Ahmed Masharqa, another suicide terrorist. In 2006, he dressed up as a religious Jew and hitchhiked to the town of Kedumim where he blew himself up inside the car that gave him a lift, killing 4 Israelis.
Part of Fatah’s praise read: “The Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades – Fatah’s military wing/ Southern region proudly announce the death of their hero Martyr Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Masharqa.”
