Known as a maverick while in the U.S. Senate, the now retired politician was a tireless advocate of Israel for over four decades in government. The first observant Jew to run on a major party presidential ticket in 2000, his book “The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath” was released in 2012 and was immediately welcomed for its celebration of the Sabbath and the importance of rest in an increasingly fast-paced world. After his retirement Lieberman immediately joined the advisory board of The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA). It has been said that he is the, “No. 1 pro-Israel advocate and leader in Congress. There is nobody who does more on behalf of Israel than Joe Lieberman. That is why he is incredibly important to the pro-Israel community.”
