Israeli soldier and Para-Olympian
The 29-year-old Gershony nearly died after his helicopter crashed during the 2006 Lebanon War. He survived, but having lost the use of his lower limbs, he showed the world even further grit: Gershony became an internationally renowned tennis champ and, at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, won a gold medal for Israel in Quad Singles and shared a bronze in Quad Doubles.
