Two mortar shells struck an open space near Israel’s northern border with Syria in the Golan Heights, south of the Majdal-Shams area, Israeli media reported Wednesday.
The Israel Defense Forces are investigating whether the mortars fell on the Syrian or Israeli side of the border.
Officials in Israel said recently that they believe Hezbollah has been trying to establish a strategic foothold in the Syrian Golan Heights to facilitate attacks on Israel from that area, Israel Hayom reported Wednesday.
