‘What if the IDF Had Twitter During the Six Day War?’ (VIDEO)

The Israel Defense Forces are set to reenact the events that led up to and culminated in Israel’s victory in the 1967 Six-Day war on Wednesday, 46 years to the day after the fact. But fortunately, this time it will take place on a rather novel front: Twitter. That’s right, the IDF is taking a hypothetical stab at how the war would have unfolded on Twitter—were it to have been available in the late 1960s.
“What if the IDF had Twitter during the Six Day War?” it asks in its new account, @IDF1967, according to Haaretz. “In the coming days you’ll know the answer. Follow us and relive history.” The headline at the top of the page explains: “The IDF is reenacting the great war for six days in June – minute by minute.”
One Tweet reads: “Jordanian snipers firing at our citizens.” Other tweets link to speeches given by Israeli generals to troops, and to videos of the events that transpired.
Unfortunately, thus far the Twitter feed is only in Hebrew, but one interested citizen has begun a small campaign to have the IDF translate the feed.
