Israel’s President Shimon Peres welcomed a high-profile guest to his residence Tuesday: American actor Robert De Niro.
The Godfather star, who was accompanied by his 17-year-old son, is in Israel to attend the annual Presidential Conference.
Peres, who is gearing up for his 90th birthday celebration, expressed his excitement at meeting De Niro, and added that he wasn’t the only fan of the international icon in the country: “You have an Oscar for your work and you also have the love of the people of Israel.”
The two also spoke about the current political situation in the region and the history of the country, a press statement released by the President’s Office said.
