Times of London – Syrian government forces appeared to be close yesterday to seizing the last rebel-held areas of Homs, Syria’s third city, consolidating a recent string of victories for the Assad regime.
Videos uploaded to the internet showed scenes of devastation in the Khaldiyah district in the northern half of the city. Streets were strewn with rubble and buildings badly damaged from shellfire and pockmarked with bullet holes.
