Much like his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s President-elect Hasan Rouhani claims he does not fear a strike on his country’s nuclear installations, and he’s churning up his rhetoric.

“When some say that all options are on the table and when a miserable regional country says such things, it makes you laugh,” Rouhani said, according to Al-Jazeera English.

Addressing Iran-Iraq war veterans on Wednesday, Rouhani added: “Who are the Zionists to threaten us?”

Netanyahu on Sunday renewed his threat to take unilateral military against Iran to stop its advance toward nuclear arms capability.

“They’re edging up to the red line. They haven’t crossed it yet,” the Israeli prime minister told CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“He’s [Rouhani] criticizing his predecessor for being a wolf in wolf’s clothing. His strategy is be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Smile and build a bomb.”

Rouhani said that fears of Iranian retaliation have stopped Israel from launching strikes on the country’s nuclear weapons program so far.

Rouhani, hailed as a moderate by many pundits, also said that halting Iran’s nuclear development is more urgent for Israel than it is for the US and that Iran must be aware that Israel is “prepared to take military action.”

Western nations believe Iran is seeking the means to make atomic bombs, and have demanded Tehran abandon its most sensitive nuclear work. But Iran denies the charge and claims the program is for energy and medical research.
